Little Budworth

Welcome to Little Budworth Parish Council’s website.

Little Budworth is located in the west of Cheshire within the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Cheshire (CWAC).

Little Budworth village lies 14 miles east of the city of Chester and has some 600 inhabitants living within the village and surroundings.

St. Peter’s church, with the nave of which was rebuilt in 1798, lies at the heart of the village with the Red Lion public house opposite, a second public house, the Egerton Arms on the western edge of the village with a third, the Shrewsbury Arms lying to the north of the village on the A54 main road. A joinery operates at the heart of the village, there are a number of farms and car servicing, car restoration and race car preparation and window and glazing businesses within the parish.

To the west of the village lies Little Budworth Common, a natural environment that is enjoyed by many. Little Budworth is the location for Oulton Park motor racing circuit used for two and four wheeled motor racing and the circuit is a major employer within the village. The race track is built within the grounds of Oulton Hall, a large country house commissioned by John Egerton in 1715, that was destroyed by fire in 1926 with the loss of six lives; the remains of the hall were demolished in 1940. The grounds of Oulton Hall were used as an encampment for US troops prior to D Day.

An energetic community spirit survives in Little Budworth with recent events such as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and King Charles III Coronation being celebrated on Little Budworth’s Village Green. The Jubilee Hall is available to hire and provides the venue for Little Budworth Parish Council’s meetings.
